College Honorary Fellow - Prof. NGAN King Ngi
College Fellow King Ngi NGAN (顏慶義) obtained his BSc and PhD degrees from Loughborough University in United Kingdom. Since 1982, he has taught in several universities in Singapore, Australia and Hong Kong. He joined CUHK in 2003 as a Professor of Electronic Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering. Before coming to Hong Kong, he was a Chair Professor in the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore and the University of Western Australia (UWA). During his undergraduate days at Loughborough, Professor Ngan lived in a fully-residential hall with full-board catering which has enriched his campus life. He later served as a College Council member of a residential college in UWA, and a non-resident counselor of a student hall in NTU. Professor Ngan was the past Chairman of the Department of Electronic Engineering at CUHK and retired in August 2017. He served as an honorary or visiting professor of numerous universities in China, Australia and South East Asia. He has chaired a number of prestigious international conferences on video signal processing and communications, and served on the advisory and technical committees of numerous professional organizations. Professor Ngan has been elected a Fellow of IEEE (USA), a Fellow of IET (UK), and a Fellow IEAust (Australia), and was an IEEE Distinguished Lecturer in 2006–2007. |
