Reforms of Chinese state-owned enterprises in the context of Belt and Road Initiatives

Summary of Thesis Project

The proposed research aims to relate the SOEs’ reforms and development to the BRI, with a special interest on identifying key factors influencing reforms and sustainable development of SOEs and understanding how SOEs are affected by the involvement of BRI projects across different industries, different BRI countries, and SOEs’ characteristics. In addition, the qualitative case study will provide further and in-depth discussions about the opportunities and challenges facing China’s SOEs in the high-speed railway industry.
