Dear Students,

May we extend our warm welcome to you in joining CUHK! In order to prepare you for the new academic year, we would like to provide you with the following important information for your reference.

Information on Undergraduate Curriculum

You should refer to the Student Handbook (http://rgsntl.rgs.cuhk.edu.hk/aqs_prd_applx/) for information on the academic curriculum of undergraduate programmes, such as major/minor study programme requirements, and also pay attention to other rules and regulations, especially the General Regulations Governing Full-time Undergraduate Studies for Students admitted in 2020-21.

Student Registration and Academic Counselling Session

All new students should complete the student registration procedures by the specified date and time given in the admission letter or on the specified website. Detailed procedures on student registration are also available on RES homepage.

Individual Faculties/Major Programmes will hold “Academic Counselling Session” prior to course registration for their major students, either on an online platform or in other alternative arrangements. Please check the detailed information and schedules on RES homepage.

Course Registration

Course Registration is scheduled for 1 September 2020 (login time is either at 10:00 a.m. or 11:00 a.m.). Individual time appointment is available for your enquiry from 25 August 2020 onwards under ‘Enrollment Dates’ on CUSIS. Detailed procedures on course registration are also available on RES homepage.

Honesty in Academic Work

As one of the primary aims of university education is to develop the ability to think and learn independently, students must never use the work or ideas of others as their own. All acts of academic dishonesty are punishable under University regulations. The Office of Student Affairs provides a variety of activities and services, including the support for student activities and student bodies, learning enhancement services for local and non-local students, mental-wellness promotion, as well as career planning and development. Colleges

Colleges are congenial communities with their own hostels, dining halls and other facilities. They are where students receive pastoral care and whole-person education. There are a total of nine Colleges at the University. Please visit https://www.cuhk.edu.hk/english/college/info.html for details.

Students are required to complete the necessary procedures for College selection. College assignment information will then be released after 4:00 pm on 27 August 2020 on CUSIS.

Student Exchange Opportunities

Although the University’s student exchange activities have been seriously affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, students who are interested can approach the Office of Academic Links (also see details on its homepage http://www.oal.cuhk.edu.hk/ ) to explore such opportunities which will become feasible when situation permits.

e-Communication, Applications and Enquiries

To support green measures of the University, RES will ONLY communicate with students by campus email, except special cases that relate to students’ self-withdrawal or possible discontinuation of study. Therefore, please check your campus emails regularly.

For applications such as suspension of studies, leave of absence, withdrawal, academic transcripts and certifying letters, course and unit exemptions, and exemption of core language courses by attainment, please observe the relevant announcements on RES homepage.
