Abstract
- The proposed project is aimed at building a CUHK community of Higher Education Academy (HEA) Fellows who will become internationally recognized professionals alongside 110,000 HEA Fellows in over 85 countries.
- The HEA Fellowship, which is a scheme of AdvanceHE of UK to recognize the professional practice of teachers in higher education, has been established by a number of research studies in terms of its impact and benefit (Beckmann, 2017; Fung and Gordon, 2016*).
- Having a group of teachers becoming teaching fellows of HEA allows our University to form a critical mass of committed teachers who are internationally recognized as teachers with strong evidence of professional practice thus demonstrating an institutional commitment to professionalism in learning and teaching.
- HEA will be invited to CUHK to provide training support to teachers and guide them towards the application through a practical process that encourages research, reflection and development.
- With a robust CUHK community of HEA fellows, it is intended a rippling effect will result and more teachers will be motivated to engage in professional practice thus working towards teaching excellence
