Professor Dennis Kee-pui Ng is a Pro-Vice-Chancellor of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and a professor at the Department of Chemistry. Professor Ng received his BSc with First-Class Honours and MPhil degrees from CUHK and in 1993 he obtained a DPhil degree from the University of Oxford with the support of the Croucher Foundation Scholarship. After working as a Research Fellow in Chemistry at the California Institute of Technology for one year, he returned to his alma mater to take up a Lecturership at the Department of Chemistry. He is a Fellow and Chartered Chemist of the Royal Society of Chemistry and a Chartered Scientist of the Science Council, UK. He received the Young Researcher Award of the University and has so far published more than 200 publications in international journals with an h-index of 52. Professor Ng has also made significant contributions to curriculum development and assessment in Hong Kong's secondary science education by participating in various related committees.
Joining CUHK in 1994, Professor Ng is well-loved by his students and has received the Faculty Exemplary Teaching Award thrice as well as The Vice-Chancellor's Exemplary Teaching Award. Dedicated to promoting student development, Professor Ng was the Associate Dean (Student Affairs) of the Faculty of Science (2004-08), the University Dean of Students (2009-17) and an Associate Vice-President (2011-17).
