Cornerstone study for treatment of small bowel ulcers in aspirin users
“Misoprostol Heals Small Bowel Ulcers in Aspirin Users With Small Bowel Bleeding” is a cornerstone study that laids the foundation and provides direction for treatment of small bowel ulcers in aspirin users. It is the first to provide professional societies an alternative, potentially safer, approach for aspirin users presenting with small bowel bleeding. Results show that a combination therapy with misoprostol and an additional agent may provide the best chance of achieving complete mucosal healing (Gastroenterology. 2018 Oct;155(4):1090-1097.e1. doi: 10.1053/j.gastro.2018.06.056. Epub 2018 Sep 5).
